Video: Ancient Roman ruins & temples in Baalbek (Heliopolis) - Lebanon

I spent a week's holiday in Lebanon in December 2008 and one of the highlights was a visit to the ancient Roman ruins and temples in Baalbek, which is one of the most beautiful and probably under visited ancient Roman ruins anywhere.

Here's a video made from the photos I took, with accompanying music bAdd Videoy Beethoven.

Roem,
Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed looking at the ruins, you are right, they are beautiful. I am suprised, I did ancient history but i did not realise that Heliopolis is in Lebanon.

Thanks Na. Here's the explanation: Baalbek (ancient Heliopolis), town, eastern Lebanon, between the Lîþânî and Asi rivers. The name, which means "City of Baal," is derived from the early association of the town with the worship of Baal, a local sun deity whom the ancient Greeks identified with their sun god, Helios; the Greeks and Romans called the town Heliopolis, "City of the Sun." Once a splendid city, it is famous now for the imposing ruins of ancient temples.

Hi Roem,
Chanced your blog from Juliana Lim's while searching for articles about Charles Lazaroo.

Your blog is fantastic, really. Wondering if you could provide some information on asli and keroncong music for my blog, as I lived that era and loving the music.

Cheers.

Dear Andy,
Thank you for your comment. I really am not an expert on asli or kroncong music though I am very much into them for my own pleasure. I grew up in JB in the 60s/early 70s listening to music and watching musicals on Radio And Singapore TV and really appreciated the great singers of those era like Kartina Dahari, Ismail Haron, Ahmad Jais etc. You may wish to go to YouTube and click on to 'lukisanperasaan' channel where you will find my uploaded songs of Kartina Dahari, mostly kroncong. It's just a hobby(a pleasant occupation during my long winter nights here) and to keep alive the great artistry of Kartina Dahari. You may also wish to click on to 'miocanzoni' where you will find some other interesting music/songs including a few asli ones. I have seen your blog and look forward to reading it. Regards,
